I wrote an article for Baseball Digest Daily recently that took a look at four non-prospects that have a chance to become to successful contributors at the big league level. Below is an excerpt of the article about Ryan Mullins of the Minnesota Twins:
"The fact that Mullins has been starting throughout his minor league career is a plus because he could see his numbers jump if he has to move to a reliever's role. Mullins has the ability to get out both lefties and righties. However, against lefties, his K-rate takes a jump up while his BB-rate drops a little.
Mechanically, Mullins is sound. Tempo is quick and his fastball gets on you a little quicker than low 90's velocity would indicate. His wind-up is a little quirky, which makes Mullins somewhat deceptive."
