Breaking Down the 2008 Baseball Draft -- Picks 18 - 26

In my second article breaking down the draft for the Hardball Times, we take a look at picks 18 - 26 including the likes of Ike Davis of the Mets, Josh Fields of the Mariners, Andrew Cashner of the Cubs, Christian Friedrich of the Rockies, and Ryan Perry of the Tigers. If you missed the first part to this series, you can read that article here.

Below is an excerpt from the article, specifically on Mets draft pick Reese Havens:

Reese Havens' batting mechanics Reese Havens

A few things I like about Havens' swing:

1. He efficiently carries his weight forward

2. He keeps his hands very quiet until he is ready to swing

3. He keeps the bat head in the hitting zone a very long time due to his hand position before swinging

4. Though he can occasionally get out in front, he generally does a good job keeping his hands back

5. He lets the ball travel deep into his hitting zone instead of reaching to make contact out in front
