I don’t think they have that future superstar, but it’s a deep system with a lot of useful parts that are close to MLB ready.

When you consider the fact that they graduated the No. 1 prospect in baseball (Jay Bruce) plus a a bunch of top-50 prospects in Cueto, Bailey, and Votto (I could be missing a couple, but those are the key guys), that’s a very impressive system from the MLB level on down. The 25-and-younger talent is among the best in the majors, which is definitely more important than just having the best farm system.

I haven’t gone too in-depth on each team’s potential, but I like the Reds as a dark horse for this year though I think next year is the one when they take a giant leap forward and become contenders. I still don’t like Dusty Baker at manager, but the Reds talent level is very high.

I’m not much of a fan with the Reds system put they do have a couple guys to look out for.

Slight correction with Alonso – he did spend a week at the end of the year in the Florida State League, so he does have very limited experience as a pro outside of the HWL.
