Coming Soon – Premium Intellect
*Update – Premium Intellect is ready to take members. You can sign up by clicking here
Ok guys, I’ve been working on something the past couple months…it’s a Premium Content Membership that I will be offering to readers for a monthly fee.
The content will be mostly in-depth scouting reports on some of the top prospects in baseball as well as scouting reports on the many mid-level prospects in baseball.
The catch is this — there will be video that I have edited accompanying these scouting reports. I edit about three hours worth of game footage down to about five minutes worth of game action. I eliminate the time between pitches, much of the time between innings, and I cut out the non-prospects. I do leave some of the ads from the original broadcast out of respect for the companies that purchase ad time.
I let you know the time a hitter’s at bat occurs or when a certain pitcher enters the game, so there is no shuffling through the video, looking for a particular player.
Anybody interested in both scouting and prospect evaluation/projection or anybody looking for information on a particular prospect whether it be for fantasy baseball purposes or just wanting to know more about your favorite team’s farm system, you’ll find this content extremely useful because you aren’t just relying on another person’s words…you can verify the scouting report by using your own eyes and you can do it in a matter of minutes.
I will come out with a Premium type article in the coming week to use as an example so you’ll have an idea about what to expect. Right now, I’m working on building a solid base of articles to put up for members to access. Some of the players I’ve looked at include Jeremy Hellickson, Austin Jackson, Desmond Jennings, Robbie Ross, Hak-Ju Lee, Brett Wallace, Chris Carter, Adrian Cardenas, Ross Seaton, Jordan Lyles, Derek Norris, Hector Rondon, and many more.
Once I’m comfortable with my base of articles, I’ll make a sign up page available for readers to sign up for an account. Members of the Baseball-Intellect Newsletter will be given a special discount price to start out and will be eligible for occasional discount prices throughout the year. I’ll be sending out an e-mail that lays out the details when I get close to launching.
For those not subscribed, you can sign up to the Newsletter by using the form below. As always, your e-mail will never be shared or sold:
Many of the videos will be coming from Minor League Baseball. As a result, I will be paying them royalties for the income generated from these memberships. I will also be encouraging those who can afford it to sign up for an MiLB.tv account. You get full games, can watch live game action, and there are hundreds of games available to watch.
Lastly, I’m still compiling scouting reports in preparation for this year’s top prospect lists. I haven’t yet decided what I’m going to do with them…not sure if I’ll charge for them, include them for anybody that purchases a Premium Account, or just publish them for no cost. That’s a decision I’ll make a little down the line. I hope to start publishing them a little after the AFL.
If you have any questions, be sure to leave a comment or contact me via e-mail.

Boooooo..
I hope you realize that people enjoy your site because it’s not a pay site. Once you start charging for your “good” content we may as well go to other pay sites.
Impossible to get free minor league coverage anymore. I’d rather see the site loaded up with ads than have to pay yet another monthly charge to read about a game.
Not sure what you’re thinking of charging, but you should probably keep in mind that Bill James only gets $3 a month for his wisdom.
Loyal Reader, I’ll address your concerns point by point…
1. Free content for the most part won’t change. In fact, there might be more free content to offer because I’ll have more time to create content and not focus as much on actually generating an income with outside work and I might be able to add writers to produce content.
I haven’t decided what to do with the prospect lists, but I know the reports for some of the players will be free. I’m not going to hide the entire list.
2. The content being offered as premium will not be the type of content you’ve seen on this site for free. It goes beyond the graphics I usually use. You’ll have a much, much better idea of a prospect’s skill level when all is said and done.
3. The membership content being offered is actual unique content. I can’t think of many sites that will be offering a similar kind of content.
4. if I could do it with ads, I would. The problem is, ads don’t bring in much revenue unless I have an extraordinary level of traffic because that’s when you actually get direct advertising. I have good traffic levels (depending on the time of year, I vary between 350 – 1,000 visitors). If something goes viral, it can get higher, but I’m not at a level where I can generate anywhere near even a secondary income.
TBone, the monthly membership will be more than $3 at a normal rate, but will come around that range for members of my mailing list and will probably be cheaper at the onset of this.
Plus, what Bill James offers and what I offer are most likely completely different and I doubt he has to pay royalties to anybody. In addition, if I were Bill James and earned as much as he did from his books or his day job, I would not be charging anybody for anything.
