Different Perspectives: Cincinnati Reds Top Prospects

March 6, 2009 BY Alex Eisenberg No Comments Yet

As I’ve done before, it’s time to take a look at some different perspectives, this time in regards to the Reds’ farm system. First, it’s only appropriate to post the top list from Reds Minor Leagues, which exclusively covers the Reds farm system. It’s also, I think, one of the three best team-specific sites for minor league coverage (Future Red Birds and Phuture Phillies being the others). It’s a top-40 list and you can get the scouting reports by clicking the links:

  • Prospects 1 – 10
  • Prospects 11 – 20
  • Prospects 21 – 30
  • Prospects 31 – 40
  • The biggest difference on the list was the placement of Devin Mesoraco and Matt Maloney. Doug had Mesoraco at No. 6 and Maloney at No. 29. Mesoraco would of placed 16th or 17th on my list, while I placed Maloney in the No. 11 spot.

Also, the Red Reporter had a community prospect list, which you can check out below:

  • Prospects 1 – 5
  • Prospects 6 – 15
  • Our lists were actually pretty similar until we reached the bottom seven or so with the placement of Zach Stewart at No. 14 and Matt Maloney and Ramon Ramirez, neither of whom ranked in the top-15.
