Some Bad News
I recently said the top prospect lists would go on as planned. Unfortunately, for the second time in less than a year, my hard crashed on me. While I managed to save some of my data this time around, all of my content ended up being erased. That means every scouting report that was ready to be published for each team’s top prospect list — and that was about 70% of them — are gone. The Austin Jackson article that I was promising to publish was also erased.
I personally can’t commit to re-writing each report given the amount of time it takes and even if I could, these lists wouldn’t be done until July or August. So the plan will be to start fresh, take some requests, and get back to doing individual scouting reports on both prospects and major league players as well as write some more mechanics-based articles, and preparing for the upcoming June draft. There will be an emphasis on teams that did not have a top prospect list published.
Now, this will probably piss a lot of people off, but my next prospect list edition will likely be for a to be determined price. The reason being it takes a ton of time to complete each list and I won’t be able to give the time commitment next year without generating at least a little income from it because the bills have to be paid. I do hope everybody understands the thought process here.
The price will be lower than other publications and I will offer ways for readers to get a price discount. I do appreciate everybody’s support and you can voice your complaints by commenting below or by contacting me here.

1. That is horrible that your hard drive crashed! I really really looked forward to your scouting reports on each team’s prospects and am devastated that the rest won’t get done. That said, I totally understand and want to thank you for the ones you did finish and put online.
2. Paying for content is a punch to the guts. I understand why you are doing it but unfortunately I am also trying to pay the bills and won’t be able to pay for content. Thanks for keeping it free up to now and maybe when the economy improves I will be able to pay for your insight or you will once again be able to post for free. Either way, best of luck.
That sucks man sorry to hear that. Could you possibly do an article on Tommy Hanson? I really enjoy reading your articles and would like to see your analysis of him.
Also I was wondering what you think of Troy Patton? He has pitched 11 shutout innings for Bowie so far and could be getting closer to 100% after his shoulder surgery. Do you think he could realistically be a solid number four starter?
Nelly, I appreciate the kind words and support. I understand many people won’t be able to afford it…this won’t be a through the roof cost, however. I’m thinking the price will be about $10 – $12, a discount will be given to newsletter subscribers, and if a reader has an interest in actually making some money, they can refer others and get a percentage of the money they bring in. It’s something I still have to work out the details with.
Still, excerpts will be available, individual articles will still be free. However, it’s a way for readers to show their support and get something in return and it allows me to take time off from my other work and not take too big a hit financially.
Holgash, Tommy Hanson is definitely on my list. I’m going to be re-doing the reports of some of the prospects that weren’t published.
I’m not sure about Patton yet. I want to see him maintain that K-rate, which really dropped off before his injury. I’m also interested in getting a first hand view of what his stuff looks like, something I won’t be able to do until he is promoted. But if he gets back to his 2006 level, I don’t see why he can’t be looked at as a potential No. 4 guy.
how about taking 3 sleeper prospects from each team and another 4 random ones and doing a top 100 sleepers that could jump to the top 100 prospects?
Eric, it might not be that comprehensive, but I’ll certainly be compiling a sleepers list, as well as guys I see as overrated or underrated.
