Oakland Athletics Farm System Overview – 2010
Overview
Despite chugging out prospect after prospect in 2009, the Oakland Athletics’ farm system is still very much one of the deepest in baseball. The system is heavy on hitters, particularly in the infield, though Oakland did add to their outfield depth with the acquisition of Michael Taylor.
It’s not a surprise that much of the organization’s pitching depth lies in the lower levels of their farm system as the team saw a flurry of pitching prospects graduate into Major League players last year.
In terms of ranking this list, the first two prospects were pretty easy, but it became much more jumbled thereafter. You have a bunch of players with similar upsides and several question marks. It’s a similar problem I had with the Angels list.
