I use time markers for when a particular hitter comes up to bat or a certain pitcher enters the game so you don’t have to shuffle through the video looking for key players. Games are edited so you can scout and evaluate a prospect in the most convenient and quickest way possible.
Allen Webster is Tommy Hanson-lite at the moment. Similar mechanics down to the whip-like arm action though Webster’s delivery isn’t as violent as Hanson’s. Both have a deep repertoire of pitches and both know how to use them.
Webster doesn’t quite have Hanson’s arm strength and his stuff grades out lower than Hanson’s stuff across the board with the change-up possibly being the exception. That’s not to say Webster can’t get to Hanson’s level one day. Remember, it wasn’t until Hanson turned 21 or 22 that he gained his present mid-90′s velocity.
The reports on Webster last year said he was reluctant to use his change-up, but he seemed to be making a conscious decision to focus on his change-up in this mid-May start against the Dayton Dragons, affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. He would use the change-up in what seemed like almost any count
