This start gives you the opportunity to see both the good and bad from Angels pitching prospect Garrett Richards. On the one hand, you have a fastball with terrific life that seems to jump out of his hand and get on hitters quickly, as well as a slider with excellent depth.
On the other hand, it’s hard to get past how Richards noticeably changes his mechanics when throwing his curveball and change-up and how, despite throwing strikes on a consistent basis, he didn’t do a particularly good job…
