The stat line under Jarred Cosart’s name doesn’t do the quality of his stuff justice. He didn’t miss bats at near the rate he did in 2010, his GB% dipped, and he saw his control take a step backward.

All that said, I’m still a Cosart fan — I believe in his ability though given what I saw from him in this outing, I’ll back off my projected upside of a No. 1 starter for Cosart.

Acquired by Houston in the Hunter Pence trade to Philly, the Astros took a risk with Cosart, who is an excellent athlete with terrific raw stuff, but is somebody who has battled injuries and consistensy issues throughout his career.
