This game cemented my feelings on Jordan Lyles. He’s made some tweaks mechanically since last year, which I will do a further analysis on in a later article. And the results are a ball that lives much more down in the zone. The quality and consistency of his stuff has improved as well, especially the change-up.
That said, he wasn’t at his best today in regards to his curveball. Let’s first go over his pitch chart and then I’ll break down his battles against Oakland Athletics second base prospect Jemile Weeks…
