Premium Content Scouting Kolten Wong

Having first broken down Cardinals outfield prospect Oscar Taveras, now it’s time to break down Cardinals second base prospect Kolten Wong, the club’s first round pick in 2011 out of Hawaii.

Wong is short, but muscular with a powerfully built lower half. At Hawaii, he was one of the purest hitters in all of college baseball, and now he may be one of the purest hitters in all of Minor League baseball, especially when you account for his position.

He signed quickly after getting drafted, and wasted little time getting his pro career started. Once there, it wasn’t long before his impact was felt.
