The Recent Transformation of Felix Hernandez

Jon Shields has an excellent article at Pro Ball NW on the recent transformation undergone by Felix Hernandez. Hernandez has added an Erik Bedard-like twist to his motion. You”ll have to click the link to see Hernandez in motion.

This twist adds a little more violence, a little more torque to his already power-based delivery. He’s seen a slight uptick in velocity since the change and because he turns his back to the hitter, he’s likely giving his pitches a little more deception.

This should tell you even the best pitchers can make adjustments and see a jump in their overall stuff.
